Rude Customers suck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi friends, just got home from working an 8 hour day.Oh god I am tired but relieved. As a cashier and an employee of World Market one of my duties is to greet the customers when they walk in our store. Well as far as getting a "Hello" back from the customers alot of them just ignore my greeting or grunt in response. It really hurts my feelings people have to be such rude assholes to me.I go out of my way to make sure they have a good experience in our store.Just goes to show what it is typical nowadays, people are so self-involved in thier own lives they ca'nt simply stop and say "Hi" to a friendly cashier who is willing to take a risk and say "Hello" I witnessed a man sitting out in the Food Court today with his toddler daughter, the little girl was crying and probably bored and he was sitting there yakking on his cell phone ignoring his daughter. When he got up to leave his daughter was still crying and clinging to his leg.And he was yup still on the damn phone !!!!!!That again, typical !!!!!!!!! When I at the register ringing people up 1 of out 5 customers is busy yakking away while I am ringing thier stuff up.I guess I am not worthy of thier time. What a world we live in nowadays, I wish I could believe things are going to get better as far as people being rude to me and not acknowledging my greetings to them, but I know otherwise, that is the way of the world today , Love You All Lisa

I understand what your saying.  My wife works
for Walmart and sees these types of people
every day.  I am not like those people.  I always
say hello, and ask my cashier how she's doing.
Sorry you had a sucky day.
Love,
Connie

Oh, Lisa, I can relate to that!  I can't stand rude people either.  I just don't understand how you can be rude to someone who stops and takes the time to be friendly and say Hello to you.  How can you be rude to them?  I don't get it at all!
That's okay, though, Lisa.. you just keep being the sweet person you are.  It takes much less energy to be sweet, then it does to try and be mean! :)

Hugs,
Jackie

Lisa,
I'm so sorry you had another rough day... people really CAN be rude, some just are that way all the time.  When I used to waitress, I had the most incredibly angry people come in sometimes.  I would think, "WHY on earth are they out in public?"  I would take it so personal!  It's hard, but after a while I started to look at people like that differently.  Everyone has a story... it doesn't give them any right to be rude, and ruin other people's days, but it helped me not to take it so personally.  I looked at these people, with a part of my heart that saw their sadness... how alone in their bitter sorrow they must be, to be so outright with their anger... taking it out on those of us who know nothing of their pain.  It helped me to take pity on them, and pray for their hearts.  Hope things get better soon!  xoxo  Michelle

You know what, I'm with you all the way! There is no reason, or excuse to be rude to someone who is simply doing their job. And it's not just being rude to cashiers and stuff, it's rudeness in general. Life would be so different if people could show a little common courtesy. I have never been rude to anyone that is providing a service for me, and it bugs me when I see other people acting that way. I don't use my cellphone either when I'm checking out of the stores. I'm so sorry you didn't have a good day at work. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. {{{HUGS}}}

Hi Lisa! Thank you for sending me the link to your journal; I have added you to my alerts. In reading your entries I am assuming you live in CA?? I went there for the first time this summer; I am now in love with the state! It is so beautiful there and want to go back again someday.
Working in retail sucks; been there done that! People are so rude and nasty. Not all people but in my experience most are. Just be polite and kind; like my mother always told me : kill them with kindness!!!
Have a wonderful Sunday!!!

Lisa...I'm sorry to hear that you had another bad day at work. I know what you mean by how rude people are nowdays. It's sad to have to wittness parents ignoring their own children as well. Everyone seems to be in too big of a hurry, and it doesn't take that long or even enrgy to say hello to someone! I've complained about this same thing before....when I'm in my electric wheel chair in a store...talk about rude people!!! It hurts my feelings, it's like as soon as I get in a wheel chair, I'm not worthy of being a human being anymore. I always look people in the eyes and say hello or good moring or something because it can bring a smile on someones face. I know it does me. :o)

Hi Lisa!  As you know I am also a cashier...you know what I do?  I make them talk to me.  If they are on their cell phone I will just keep asking them questions until they have to get off and answer me.  All with the most sweetest smile and tone of voice I can muster. If I ask them how is your day going and they "grunt" at me....I will say something like...oh I see you are having a bad day.  Do not let these people get to you. NOt everyone is nice.  You just have to be nicer to them and like I say....make them talk.  Say something like....oh the heat is just making everyone cranky today....I am glad to see that it has not affected you (lie)...ususally they are like...Oh I know blah blah blah and then you can't shut them up LOL.  Just remember....you are only responsible for your behavior...if they are jerks someone at home has to "put Up" with them more than we do.  Hugs and Smiles (real ones for you) Barbara

I used to work retail!  It sucks!  I'll have to email you a story about a scene I had while running the customer service dept in a store.  I was finally able to tell a rude woman off and it felt so, so good.  I didn't get fired either! LOL.
